Named after my mother

Nouriye is my mother's name. The brand is dedicated to her, and to all she stands for: generosity that gives without counting, tenderness, delight, grace, and a closeness to nature.

Her qualities will give their names to our gift editions, beginning with Karam, generosity, for Ramadan 2027.

The house I grew up in held several languages and cultures around one table. Since then I have lived in many countries and have hardly stopped travelling. For the past three years the road has led across Asia, China above all, and to learning its language.

Wherever I go, people gather around the same essentials: food, music and knowledge. And almost everywhere, food is heading the same way: towards vast farms and factory lines, ever further from nature.

The exceptions are what I look for. In the mountains of Yunnan, there are still small family producers whose tea trees grow in the forest, and who make their tea by hand, the way their families have for generations. When a tea is pressed, a traditional press is the only machine it meets.

Nouriye is how I share the best of what I find on these journeys: food made by hand, the traditional way, far from mass production. It is for those who care where their food comes from, and who made it.
